PURPOSE:To discriminate not only whether the attaching position of a magnetic head is proper or not but also the direction of deviation by providing a signal band section, where at test signal is recorded only on a tape surface other than the tape surface corresponding to the head part of a properly positioned magnetic head, in a part in the tape running direction at least. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 1 is set to a tape recorder to adjust the head attaching position. If an L-channel head part 2b of a magnetic head 2 touches a signal band 1a of the tape 1, a reproduced output is generated from the L-channel head part 2b. Then, the head 2 is judged to be deflected upward from a reference position. With respect to a discriminating means, an R-channel head part 2a and the L-channel head part 2b are connected to a display device 5 having lamps 5a and 5b through amplifiers 3a and 3b and detectors 4a and 4b respectively, and the lower or upper lamp 5b or 5a is lit. Thus, the head position adjusting work is simplified. |
