PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the concn. of alcohol in fuel in any place by anybody, by adding water in fuel for internal combustion engine prepared by mixing alcohol with hydrocarbon and measuring the amount of water required in generating phase separation or said water amount and a temp. CONSTITUTION:Concn. known fuels having different concns. are put in a flask and distilled water is dripped by a burette while a temp. is measured. If turbidity due to the separation of a hydrocarbon phase and a water phase containing methanol is generated in each specimen, dripping is stopped and the amount of water required in generating turbidity is measured. A calibration curve showing the relation of methanol concn. and the amount of water required in phase separation is fabricated. In this case, plural kinds of calibration curves are prepared by changing a temp. Fuel desired in the measurement of methanol concn. is similarly put in a flask and water is dripped under stirring to measure the amount of water required in generating turbidity. The concn. of methanol can be measured by the calibration curves. |
