The invention relates to a method consisting in compacting earth construction elements by hammering 1, 2 and 3 and in obtaining the optimum compactness by tests on successive samples of the same type of earth, only varying its water content. The mechanical device comprises a movable mould bottom with adjustable height 4, a limiter for the travel of the hammering system 5 and an elastic thrust member 8 using the force and movement of the slide for refilling the mould 6. The light block comprises a recess in the shape of a truncated pyramid 9, a bottom seating thickness 11 less than that of the upper portion 12, two longitudinal thickened parts 13 at the top portion and two thickened parts 14 placed symmetrically on the ends. <IMAGE>
