PURPOSE:To measure the cooling speed accurately by filling about a thermocouple a powdery or particulate metal for protection having the melting point below heating temperature of a metal body to be measured in the temperature and then, heating the metal body being measured once before the measuring of the cooling temperature. CONSTITUTION:Before the heating of an object 1 to be measured, a thermocouple 2 is brought into contact with the bottom of a dent provided at the measuring point of the object being measured and then, a powdery protection metal 81 fills about in the dent. The powdery protection metal 81 employs such that is to be melted at the heating temperature of the object 1 being measured and solidified at the temperature 10-20 deg.C higher than the temperature of starting the measurement of the cooling speed. Thereafter, when the object 1 being measured is heated, the powdery protection metal 81 melts and then, solidified as cooled down to the temperature of starting the measurement of the cooling speed to protect the thermocouple 2 thereby enabling the complete protection thereof from the contact of a cooling water or the like. Under such a condition, the cooling speed of the object 1 being measured is measured with a cooling speed measuring device 7. This enables a highly accurate measurement at a completely protected state by preventing the measuring position at the tip of the thermocouple 2 from contacting a cooling water or the like through the protection metal 82. |
