The invention relates to an insubmersible floating structure, serving in particular as a barrier. The solved problem consists in creating an adjustable structure having a strong resistance to swell and to currents. The structure is characterised in that it comprises columns of adjustable length equipped with ballasts at their lower part and floating means 3 at their upper part, these columns being connected by articulated cross-beams 4 forming a framework which carries a screen for selective retaining 5. The invention applies particularly to the creation of protected zones or the retaining of solid or liquid bodies such as hydrocarbons. <IMAGE>
