The invention relates to a method for producing an electrical wound capacitor which can be regenerated and has plates which are metallised-on on both sides on dielectric films and leave free a metal-free edge strip in each case on mutually opposite film edges, similar-polarity plates of adjacent films being located mutually opposite with edge strips located on the same side, and being isolated from one another by means of an insulating layer which projects into the region of the metal-free edge strips. In order to achieve the object of preventing occurrences of corona discharges without any impregnation of capacitors, it is proposed that the plates (2a, 2b, 2c and 3a, 3b, 3c) of the films (1a, 2a, 3a) be provided with a varnish coating (4b-4f) before winding, which varnish coating (4b-4f) covers the edges of the metallised-on plates at the edge strips (regions 5a-5f). <IMAGE>
