In the case of a rolling rack system having a plurality of rack units whose operating sides face one another and which can be displaced transversely thereto in order to create an operating passage, and each of which has a reversible motor as a drive and associated switching and control devices, with movement switches for optionally starting the motor in one of the rotation directions, and having gear switches which are arranged on each operating side of the rack units and switch the respective motors as a function of resting against an adjacent rack unit or an end stop, the switching and control devices being connected directly into the motor circuit, it is provided in order to increase the operating reliability while at the same time reducing the production costs and the maintenance outlay that in each case one switch (So, 1S1, 2S1 or 1S2, 2S2, 3S2) be arranged as movement switches on both sides of each passage (7, 8, 9) on the free end (11) on each rack unit or the lateral rack limiting devices respectively, said switches (So, 1S1, 2S1 or 1S2, 2S2, 3S2) being connected such that the motors (M1, M2) of the movable rack units (2, 3) can be driven only when both switches are operated jointly. <IMAGE>
