PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material capable of forming a color in a sufficient density when being used in combination with an electron-donative colorless dye, by using a specified benzyl dihydroxybenzoate derivative as an electron- acceptive compound. CONSTITUTION:A compound of general formula I , wherein R is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a halogen atom or a cyano group, preferably, a 1-5C alkyl group, a 1-5C alkoxy group, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or a cyano group, particularly, a 1-3C alkyl group, a 1-3C alkoxy group or a chlorine atom, and the substitution position of R is preferably ortho- or para-position, particularly, para-position, is used as an electron-acceptive compound for a thermal recording material. The melting point of the compound is preferably not lower than 50 deg.C, particularly, 70-150 deg.C. |
