PURPOSE:To improve the critical characteristic upon cornering, by determining that a lateral acceleration exerted to a vehicle body and obtained from a rack reaction force detected by a rack reaction force sensor exceeds a set value so that the steering ratio of rear wheels is changed thereby. CONSTITUTION:When a lateral acceleration transmitted from a rack reaction force to a vehicle exceeds a set acceleration, pistons 16b in a same/reverse changeover unit 16 are moved inward by actuators 16e, respectively to communicate right and left chambers 7d, 7c in a front cylinder 7 with right and left chambers in a rear cylinder 15, respectively. When a steering wheel is turned in this condition so that volume of the left chamber 7c of the front cylinder is decreased, oil discharged therefrom at this time flows into the left chamber 15c of the second rear cylinder 15 to move a piston 15b righward. Accordingly, as the steering angle is increased, rear wheels decrease their steering angle to cancel out the under steering characteristic to enhance the cornering characteristic. |
