PURPOSE:To form a ribbon wire having an extremely small edge drop and excellent dimensional accuracy by rolling a wire rod in the direction perpendicular to its central axis to make its both edges a slightly greater in thickness than its central part before rerolling it in the direction of its central axis. CONSTITUTION:A round wire rod 1 is rolled in its diametral direction by using a pair of rolls 2, 2a or the combination of a roll and an anvil installed by making their axes parallel to the central axis of wire rod 1, to increase its width thereby obtaining the 1st intermediate 3. Next, the intermediate 3 is rolled by using the combination of a roll 4 and a grooved anvil 5 installed by making their axes parallel to the central axis of wire rod 1, to obtain the 2nd intermediate 6 by adjusting its both ends (a), (b) thicknesses to the thickness a slightly greater than that of its central part. Next, both ends (a), (b) of the 2nd intermediate 6 are finish rolled in the direction of the central axis of intermediate 6 by a pair of rolls 7, 7a installed by making their axes perpendicular to said axis, to obtain a ribbion wire 9. |
