The device serves for producing cup-shaped or box-shaped containers from plastic by injection moulding a flat preform (2) and forming said preform by blow moulding or suction moulding. The injection mould arrangement contains a two-part holding mould (1) having a horizontal groove (1a) in its inner circumferential wall in which groove the preform (2) is caught after the injection mould is opened. The preform is transferred by means of this holding mould (2) into a blow moulding or suction moulding mould arrangement and clamped therein at its edge (2a) between the holding mould (1) on one side and a mould lower part (12) or an upper mould closure part (9). After the blow mould or suction mould is opened, the finished container can be removed by separating the two-part holding mould in a horizontal direction. <IMAGE>
