The invention relates to a feed for chickens and chicks and a process for its production and a process for rearing and keeping chickens with use of the feed. According to the invention it is proposed to use as feed up to 80% compost, in particular 40 to 60% compost, the remaining fraction being composed of conventional cereals and/or manufactured feed. The compost in this case should preferably be obtained from a pile of vegetable wastes having a maximal height of 40 cm, in particular 25 to 30 cm, an amount of 200 g to 1000 g, preferably 500 g, of primary rock meal, in particular basalt meal, being added per M<3> of vegetable wastes. The vegetable wastes should be aerated during the compost formation by regular raking up. When the above described feed is used in feeding, a high resistance to disease and parasites and a decrease in aggressive behaviour combined with increased vitality and activity and improved growth are achieved. In addition, higher rates of fertilisation and hatching are achieved which are maintained over the entire year. Scratching and ejecting feed from the feeding positions cease. |
