PURPOSE:To detect fluorescence with a high sensitivity, by absorbing radiation from an object and test specimen in a specific complex halide fluorescent substance activated with europium, irradiating the fluorescent substance with electromagnetic waves, emitting fluorescence to carry out photoelectric transfer for image formation. CONSTITUTION:Radiation transmitting an object or emitted from a test specimen is absorbed in a complex halide fluorescent substance, activated with bivalent europium, and expressed by the formula (MII is Ba, Sr or Ca; MI is Rb or Cs; X and X' are Cl, Br or I and are not the same; X'' is F, Cl, Br or I; 0.1<=a<= 10.0; 0<b<=10.0; 0<x<=0.2) and the resultant fluorescent substance is then irradiated with electromagnetic waves of 450-1,000nm to emit radioactive energy accumulated in the fluorescent substance and to detect the resultant fluorescence. EFFECT:X-ray images rick in information are obtained with a low exposure dose. USE:Radiography by direct medical method.
