NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is H, or acyl; R3 and R5 are H, hydrocarbon residue which may contain substituent group, or R4, R5, and adjoining N atom form cyclic amino) or its salt. EXAMPLE:2-Amino-5-{ ( 3S,4R,5S )-4,5-dihydroxycyclopent-1-en-3-ylaminomethyl }pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4-thione. USE:An antitumor agent, an antiviral agent, an antimicrobial agent, and a disinfectant. Useful for remedying tumors of warm-blooded animals including human, and for preventing and remedying viral diseases and microbisms. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula II (R2 and R3 are alkyl, alkenyl, or aralkyl having methylene at alpha-position, or R2, R3, and adjoining N atom form cyclic amino) is subjected to substitution reaction with an amine shown by the formula III, to give a compound shown by the formula I .
