A description is given of a building element for producing false ceilings, having a fire-proofing effect, from a correspondingly dimensioned gypsum plasterboard, by milling-in V-shaped grooves at a distance from the longitudinal centre line, without the outer plasterboard being damaged, and by folding the side strips upwards and adhesively bonding the milled surfaces and V-shaped groove together using an adhesive.
