PURPOSE:To obtain a defectless weld zone having no welding defects in butt welding of an austenitic stainless steel and copper-clad steel by joining preliminarily an Ni-base alloy to the stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:An austenitic stainless steel 3 and an ''Inconel'' material 30 are joined by electron beam welding 31 and are then explosively welded to copper or copper alloy 2 to form a clad steel. Such steel is then formed to a circular shape and the material 30 and the copper or copper alloy 2 are machined to form weld grooves. The copper or copper alloy 2 is first subjected to electron beam welding to form a bead 22 then grooves 32, 33 are welded by using an ''Inconel'' welding rod. The weld groove formed in such a way is the weld of the ''Inconel'' 30 and the copper or copper alloy 2 alone where there is no dilution by the iron-component in the austenitic stainless steel at all and therefore the defectless weld zone having no welding defects is obtd. |
