PURPOSE:To improve sintering properties and obtain a sintered material having a high density, by mixing a solution prepared by dissolving a given metal alkoxide in an organic solvent with a solution consisting of water and a dispersing agent, etc., and hydrolyzing the metal alkoxide to produce fine powder. CONSTITUTION:A metal alkoxide consisting of a mixture of an aluminum alkoxide expressed by the general formula Al(OR)3 (R is alkyl group) with a silicon alkoxide expressed by the general formula SinOn-1(OR)2n+2 (n is >=1, R is alkyl group) is dissolved in an oganic solvent, and the resultant solution is mixed with a solution consisting of water and a dispersing agent. Alternatively, the above-mentioned solution is mixed with a solution consisting of the water, dispersing agent and organic solvent. Thus, the metal alkoxide is hydrolyzed to afford the aimed fine ceramic powder.
