PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a steering characteristic desired by the driver, by enabling the steering angle of rear wheels to be set at a predetermined steering ratio irrespective of whether a lateral acceleration exerted to a vehicle exceeds a set acceleration or not. CONSTITUTION:When the position of a changeover switch 23 is set to a position 23b, a same/reverse phase changeover unit 16 communicates right and left chambers in a front cylinder 7 with right and left chambers in a second rear cylinder 15, respectively, to change the urging force in a spring 20c disposed in a steering angle regulating unit 20. When a steering wheel is controlled in this condition, the steering characteristic of rear wheels becomes the oversteering characteristic. Further, if it is set at a position 23c, the right and left chambers of the front cylinder communicate with right and left chambers in a first rear cylinder 14, respectively, to decrease the urging force of the spring in the steering angle regulating unit 20 to a value less than the operating force of an actuator 20d to give the understeering characteristic. |
