Device for removing the primary protective layer from optical fibres

Two oppositely rotating brushes or abrading rollers (1) are provided for the purpose of removing the primary protective layer from optical fibres. These brushes or abrading rollers (1) have incisions or indentations (2) on their top side, so that raised and non-raised zones are produced. While rotating, the raised zones of a brush or roller engage in the non-raised zones of the other brush or roller (1), without however touching them. This configuration enables the primary protective layer to be removed in a chip-forming fashion without the occurrence of self blunting of the brushes or rollers (1). <IMAGE>
