The invention relates to aminoglycosides of the general formulae <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 are identical or different and each is an alkyl group which is optionally substituted one or more times by amino, hydroxyl or a lower alkoxy group, R3 is hydrogen or methyl, R4 is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R5 is hydrogen or hydroxyl, R6 is amino or hydroxyl, R7 is hydrogen or a group of the formulae <IMAGE> but where R7 is not a group of the formula IIa when R1 and R2 are methyl, R3, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and R6 is amino, and to processes for the preparation thereof and to the use thereof.
