A hybrid protein is provided comprising a first polypeptide having human ANF activity and a carrier polypeptide separated from said first polypeptide by a linker polypeptide containing a recognition site for a proteolytic enzyme. The hybrid protein avoids the degradation of the short chain human ANF polypeptide by the proteases of the transformed host cell. e.g. E. COLI. The enzyme may be enterokinase, thrombin, plasmin collagenase, Staph, aureus V8 protease, Factor Xa or endopeptidase lys C. |
