PURPOSE:To obtain a porcelain enamel form white film having excellent weather resistance, by treating an anodic oxide film in a treating bath containing phosphate ions under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:Al or an Al alloy provided with an anodic oxide film is hydrothermal processed in a treating bath containing at least one selected from phosphoric acid and salts thereof at pH 2-9 and a temperature of not lower than 100 deg.C. By this treatment, an amorphous aluminum phosphate compound is formed on the surface of the anodic oxide film, and a porcelain enamel form beautiful white film having excellent weather resistance and physical and chemical strength can be obtained. The white coloring method can be applied to nameplates, decorative panels or the like.
