PURPOSE:To magnify a facsimile original locally by providing a magnification setting means to designate a transmission magnification and transmitting the facsimile original of a section designated by a coordinate input device with a magnification designated by a magnification setting means. CONSTITUTION:When a magnification MN is set to ''2'' by a ten-key 34, the data is inputted to a control circuit 20 and also fed to a control circuit 40 at the reception side, then the transmission side and reception side recognize the manification of ''2''. When picture information MP stored in a memory 33 is transmitted to the transmission side after the end of reading scanning to an original 23, the transmission inputs the magnification MN of ''2'' from the ten- key 34 via the control circuit 40 so as to double the clock frequency of the drive clock DFA from a drive circuit 41 and the drive clock DPA from a drive circuit 42. That is, the relation of DFA=2.DF and DPA=2.DP is established. Thus, the picture recording by a recorder 44 to a recording paper sheet 45 is performed in the drive speed twice the reading speed.
