PURPOSE:To enable the detection of the final end of a heat transfer ink ribbon with a simple construction by providing a rotation detecting means for detecting the rotation of an ink ribbon winding shaft of a winding mechanism to detect the stoppage of the rotation of the ink ribbon winding shaft under the heat transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:An encoding plate 46 is fastened at the bottom of an ink ribbon winding shaft 9 and a photosensor 47 is arranged sandwitching it. Under the heat transfer recording, as the ink ribbon winding shaft 9 rotates, a signal is transmitted according to the rotation of the encoding plate 46 but otherwise, the rotation of the ink ribbon winding shaft 9 is checked and no signal is transmitted. After an ink ribbon 5 wound on a feed roller 8 is fully fed, the rotation of the ink ribbon winding shaft 9 is checked being pulled by the ink ribbon 5 and even under the heat transfer recording, the signal according to the rotation of the encoding plate 46 fails to be transmitted from the photosensor 47. This permits the detection of the final end of the ink ribbon 5. |
