PURPOSE:To prevent an original from shifting in position when a platen cover is closed and to eliminate a waste in copying by providing a sheet type original holding member to an original platen glass support frame, and pressing the peripheral edge part of one side of the platen glass. CONSTITUTION:A detachable arm 8 is fitted to the platen glass support frame 2 which supports the platen glass 1 and the sheet type flexible original holding member 6 is provided through a presser spring 7. When a copy is taken, the original 9 is arranged while pressed between the holding member 6 and glass 1. Consequently, even when the original 9 is light and easy to slip, the original 9 is prevented from shifting in position beyond an effective copying range owing to a flow of air generated when the platen cover is closed, and a waste in copying due to the cut of an image is prevented. When a book, etc., are copied, the holding member 6 is removed together with the arm 8.
