PURPOSE:To provide a current-passing roll for use in an electroplating bath or an electrolytic solution, which has excellent corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance and favorable conductivity, wherein a roll shell is provided with a double-layer construction comprising an outer layer of a corrosion-resistant alloy worked to have a predetermined surface hardness and an inner layer of a carbon steel. CONSTITUTION:For example, the roll shell 1 of the current-passing roll for supporting and guiding an object to be plated (e.g., a steel plate) in a plating bath and passing an electric current to the object is constituted of the outer layer 1a of a corrosion-resistant alloy and the inner layer 1b of a carbon steel, which are cast as one body by centrifugal casting. A part of a feeder pipe 2 is inserted into each end of the shell 1, the end part of the contact surface of the shell 1 and the pipe 2 is fixed by welding so as to enhance the joing strength, and the end part of the pipe 2 is internally fitted into the corresponding end of a cylinder 3 forming a cooling water passage. The surface of the outer layer 1a is worked to have a Shore hardness of 35.
