<p>PURPOSE:To enable display with high luminance, contrast and image quality by connecting, one to one, picture element groups provided on both sides of an intermediate substrate, providing switching elements to the respective picture elements and providing color filters, one to one, to one group of picture element electrode pairs. CONSTITUTION:Respective groups of picture element electrodes 12, 22 formed of ITO are formed on both sides of an intermediate substrate 2 out of electrode glass substrates 1-3. The electrodes 12, 22 are connected through through-holes 4 formed to the substrate 2 to form electrode pairs. One switching element (an FET consisting of a gate electrode, an insulating film 6, an a-Si layer 7, a drain electrode 8, a source electrode 9 and a protective film 10) is attached to each electrode pair. Color filters 11 (green) and 21 (red) are formed to the substrate 1. If common electrodes 14, 15 are maintained at 0V and the drain electrode 8 at 25V potential and when 30V pulse voltage is impressed to the gate electrode 5, liquid crystals 13, 23 turn on and the display having high luminance, contrast and image quality is obtd.</p> |
