PURPOSE:To constitute an excellent servo system, by converting the output signal of a sensor in correspondence with a physical pattern into an analog signal having a specified period on the time axis. CONSTITUTION:When an optical rotary encoder is constituted, a light shielding plate, in which the distance from the center 0 of rotation to the periphery is continuously and gradually changed with respect to the central angle, is used as a rotary disc 2 of the encoder. The amount of light, which is emitted from a light emitting element 8 and imparted to a light receiving element 9, is outputted as an analog signal, whose magnitude is changed as specified on the time axis in correspondence with the rotary angle of the rotary disc 2. The light emitting elements 8 and the light receiving element 9 are made to face on both sides of the rotary disc 2. |
