PURPOSE:To provide a packing which consists of synthetic rubber contg. an X- ray contrast medium in place of a part of metal oxide and makes it possible to observe its behavoir clearly by X-ray applied from outside of a metal container. CONSTITUTION:The packing is formed from a rubber compd. obtained by adding 5-25pts.wt. X-ray contrast medium in place of a part of metal oxides used as compounding agents, to 100pts.wt. acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer rubber having an acrylonitrile content of 33-35mol%. EFFECT:X-ray transmissivity is reduced to a marked extent as compared with conventional synthetic rubber packing and the X-ray contrast effect is not lowered by wear and deformation. Thus behavoir of packing can be observed over a ong period.
