PURPOSE:To securely lubricate a speed change gear by housing said speed change gear and a forward-and-backing changeover device in a differential gear case together with a differential gear and introducing a lubricating oil, which is splashed up by said differential gear in both opposite directions to each other in accordance with forwarding or backing, to gears which are used at the time of forwarding or backing. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear case 34 is combined in an integrated form with the rear axle 24, near its middle part, of a small-size car, and a splash-lubrication type differential gear 36 is housed in the lower part of the case 34. The differential gear 36 consists of a differential gear carrier 40, in which speed-reduction large gears 38a, 38b having different number of teeth to each other, are provided in an integrated form on its right and left side. In the differential gear case 34, which is formed longitudinally longer, a speed-change gear shaft 52 and an input shaft 54 are provided in parallel being positioned in the vertical direction, and power is transmitted to the input shaft 54 through a V-belt type stepless speed change gear 56 and a centrifugal clutch 58. And, a support shaft 74, which supports an idle gear 72 for backing, a shifter shaft 78, and a speed change drum 80, are provided in parallel on the front side, in the traveling direction, of both shafts 52, 54, and the speed change drum 80 is rotated through an operating wire 88, etc.
