The tray is used for storing cutlery and place servings and for carrying these to the table. It comprises a flat rectangular or round base having a pull-out wire handle at each end. These are normally stored within the thickness of the base. On the upper surface are several parallel pairs of guides, these being used to locate and hold several vertical columns. Each column has a flattened U-shaped cross section and is adjustable along the length of the slides. All columns are made from stainless steel and have various types of plastic fittings, depending on the cutlery used.
