Rehydratable antacid magaldrate powders - contain polyvinyl pyrrolidone, methyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl cellulose

A rehydratable magaldrate (I) powder contains 0.01-50 (pref. 0.01-5)% polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and 50-99.99 (Pref. 95-99.99)%(I) on a dry basis or 0.1-25 (pref. 0.5-2) % methylcellulose or hydroxypropyl-methylcellulose and 75-99.9 (pref. 98-99.5)% (I) on a dry basis. The primary crystalline aggregates of (I) remain small enough to maintain their colloidal properties when rehydrated. Previous (I) powders were not completely rehydratable and suspensions became sandy. Non-sandy (I) suspensions of high concn. e.g. 20-24% can also be prepd. (previously (I) gel could not be used to prepare suspensions contg. >12% solids because the viscosity was too high at higher concns.).
