PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium which has high resolving power and high sensitivity, is free from a decrease in C/N, etc. by using a layer consisting of an org. high polymer material and fatty acid ester and contg. a cyanine dye or merocyanine dye as a protective layer for a recording layer which performs recording and reading by light. CONSTITUTION:The cyanine dye or merocyanine dye expressed by the formula I [R is C2H5, (CH2)3SO3-, etc., a ring contg. A is the group expressed by the formula II, etc., X is Br, I, etc.] is deposited by evaporation on a transparent substrate 1 or a coating liquid prepd. by such dye if necessary together with a binder is coated thereon to form a recording layer 2 on the substrate. A protective layer 3 contg. an org. high polymer material such as PE, ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer, epoxy resin, etc. and higher fatty acid ester is formed on the layer 2. The layer 3 is provided in such a way, by which the optical information recording medium having a long life without decrease in recording sensitivity, C/N, contract, etc. is obtd. |
