PURPOSE:To improve a measurement speed by supplying a controller with approximate coordinates of both end parts of a body to be measured, inputting a video signal from an image sensor only at circumferences of both end parts, and driving a moving device at a high speed without inputting any video signal except at the circumferences of both end parts. CONSTITUTION:The stopped columnar body 2 to be measured which is held by the holder 36 of the moving device 3 is irradiated with light from a light source 70 to form its image on the image sensor 1 through a lens 71. Further, a ball screw 37 is rotated by a stepping motor 31 which rotates with a pulse command signal from a controller (not shown in figure) to elevate a table 38 which has a slide guide 39 and also shield a photointerrupter 32 from light by a projection 34; and the origin of the moving device 3 is thus detected and coordinates in the moving direction are sent to the controller. Further, the controller scans the output signal of the sensor 1 to determine the width of the body 2 and also detects the top end surface and stepped surface of the body 2, thereby deciding on its length from the movement distance between them. |
