PURPOSE:To obtain a thin body of a shape memory alloy having high responsiveness and high deformability at a low cost by heat treating a thin NiTi plate having a specified composition formed by vacuum deposition or other method at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:A thin alloy strip of 50Angstrom -40mum thickness having a composition represented by a formula NixTi100-x (where 48<=x<=52atom%) is formed by vacuum deposition, sputtering, rapid cooling or other method. The thin body is heat treated at 150-500 deg.C. Thus, a rapidly cooled thin body of a shape memory alloy having rapid responsiveness in shape restoration and free deformability such as 180 deg. bendability is obtd. by said simple method.
