PURPOSE:To detect abnormality of the indication of a viscometer speedily by comparing the viscosity obtained by measuring the thickness of flowing down fluid before it reaches a viscometer through a machine device with the viscosity obtained by the viscometer. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of a cake which flows down through a cake shoot 9 after being discharged from a centrifugal concentrating machine 5 is measured by a thickness meter 10, and the viscosity of the cake 17 in a lead-in pipe 12 coupling with the shoot 9 is measured by the viscometer body 14 with an elevating device 18; and both outputs are supplied to an arithmetic comparator 20 through an input/output device 19 together with the output of a densitometer 11 for sludge 6. The comparator 20 calculates the fluid viscosity from the output of the thickness meter 10 and compared it with an indicated value on the viscometer 14, and when there is abnormality, a controller 21 controls a selector valve 13, device 18, etc., provided to the pipe 12. |
