PURPOSE:To manufacture easily the titled cold worked member having superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking by heating austenitic stainless steel under specified conditions, cold working it, and carrying out heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:When the upper limit temp. (Md point) of work induced martensite transformation of austenitic stainless steel is room temp. or above, the steel is heated to a temp. above the Md point such as <=about 200 deg.C, and it is cold worked while almost preventing the formation of work induced martensite. When the Md point of austenitic stainless steel is below room temp., the steel is cold worked at room temp. heat treatment is then carried out to manufacture a cold worked member of austenitic stainless steel having <=230 Vickers hardness Hv (1kg) and <=10% work induced martensite content. |
