PURPOSE:To improve transfer efficiency by providing plural corotron wires in a an electrifier, and also providing a grid wire between at least one of these wires and a photosensitive body, so that this grid wire can be grounded by a switch. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body 1 for forming an image is electrostatically charged by setting a switch 8 to a contact 82 side, and grounding a grid wire 6 through a Zener diode 9. In this state, when a DC voltage power source 5 is applied to each corotron wire 3, 4, an electron beam 7 is generated toward the photosensitive body 1 from each corotron wire 3, 4, and the surface of the photosensitive body 1 is charged. In this case, a high voltage of 700-800V is applied to the grid wire grounded through the Zener diode 9, it is unnecessary to raise an output level higher than required by extending the time of electrostatic charge, and discharge breakdown of a photosensitive layer of the photosensitive body 1 is prevented. |
