PURPOSE:To remove quickly impurities in a molten iron with high efficiency by blowing a powder flux at a high speed under specific conditions to the molten iron tapped from a blast furnace, in a tapping spout. CONSTITUTION:A powder flux 4 is blown at a high speed via a lance 3 to a molten iron 2 tapped from a blast furnace during the time when said iron flows in a tapping spout 1 and is contained in a ladle, by which the molten iron is treated. Blowing is accomplished under the conditions expressed by the equation so that the depth HP of intrusion of the powder flux 4 into the molten iron 2 attains 0.50H<=HP<=1.0H with respect to the bath depth H of the molten iron. The wear of the spout 1 by the flux 4 is thus prevented and the stable removal of impurities is accomplished.
