PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and heat resistance by coating an optical fiber with a ceramics material. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 2 is clamped by rolls 33, run through a die, and then gripped with a claw 4 for traction. The claw 4 for traction is fixed on a carriage and moves along a support rod 41. The optica fiber is drawn through the die with the claw 4 for traction which grips the tip part 22 of the optical firber as the carriage 42 moves forth. While the optical fiber is drawn and tensed, the ceramics material is injected into a discharge pipe 1 from a drawing port 14 to the circumference of the optical fiber. The drawing pressure is increased gradually to discharge the material in the discharge pipe 1 from a ferrule 5. In this case, the part of the tip part 22 of the optical fiber is drawn with the pawl 4 for traction to discharge the optical fiber together and the fiber is coated with the ceramics material. |
