PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of spectroscopic analysis to a large extent in spite of the presence of air bubbles, by allowing detection light having a wavelength different from that of measuring light corresponding to a measuring item to transmit a container and a specimen. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic blood analysis apparatus, a required amount of a specimen 4 is received in a container 3 and, after a required reaction time is elapsed, the measuring light (l) of a light source 1, wherein a wavelength corresponding to a measuring item is selected by a filter 2, is allowed to irradiate and transmit the specimen 4 and the change amount of the absorbancy OD value on the basis of the specimen 4 is converted to voltage by a light receiving element 5 while the voltage is amplified by an amplifier 6 and the data thereof is sent to a data processing apparatus A. When air bubbles 14 are present in the specimen 14 within the container 3, detection light l' is irregularly reflected on surfaces of air bubbles 14 and the OD value is remarkably reduced as compared with the air bubble absent case or, even if said light l' transmits the air bubbles 14, the container transmitting distance D of detection light l' becomes short by the size (d) of each air bubble 14 and the OD value is reduced by the apparent part thereof. That is, the OD value of detection light l' received by the light receiving element 5 necessarily becomes different between the presence of air bubbles 14 and the absence thereof and the presence of air bubbles can be easily confirmed. |
