PURPOSE:The titled resin for supplying a novel agent providing water resistance free from occurrence of harmful substances, furnishing coated paper with water resistance, by reacting a polyamide with an epihalohydrin in an aqueous solution, reacting the reaction product with an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polymide obtained from a dibasic carboxylic acid (e.g., succinic acid, etc.) and a polyalkylene polyamine (e.g., diethylene triamine, etc.) is reacted with (B) an epihalohydrin (preferably epichlorohydrin) in an aqueous solution to give a polyamide-epihalohydrin adduct, which is reacted with (C) an oxidizing agent (preferably hydrogen peroxide), to give the desired resin. In order to prevent abrupt heat generation, preferably feed of the component C is carried out gradually. EFFECT:Improving luster degree of coated surface. Not causing reduction in whitening. |
