This device comprises a central station 1 connected via modems 6, 7 arranged at the departure station D and at the terminus T to station circuits 9a... 9n, 12a... 12n equipping each stop on the outward and return journey of a line. The station circuits are connected together and to the central station via telephone lines and each comprise an initialisation loop 10a... 10n, 12a... 12n placed on the track opposite the station and intended to inhibit the corresponding station circuit with regards to signals relating to the vehicle which has just passed and to transmit these signals to the following stations, as well as radio reception means intended to receive progress information from vehicles circulating on the line. Each station is provided with means for luminously displaying the stations served by the first awaited vehicle and the position of the vehicles upstream from the said station. <IMAGE>
