NEW MATERIAL:The polyether compound of formula I (R is residue of a compound having hydroxyl group; n1, n2...nl are 0 or integer of 1-100, and their sum is 1-100; l is 1-100 representing the functionality of R; A is substituent group of formula II). USE:Useful as an industrial raw material of various resins. A resin having excellent hardness, strength and weatherability can by synthesized therefrom. Furthermore, the compound has high reactivity and can be utilized in various reactions. For example, addition of a silane compound to the titled compound gives a raw material of a silane coupling agent, or it can be utilized as a modifier of an unsaturated polyester resin taking advantage of the radical polymerization capability of vinyl group. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting a compound having hydroxyl group with 4-vinylcyclohexene-1-oxide at -20-+200 deg.C, preferably 0-80 deg.C in the presence of a Lewis acid.
