This microprogrammed computer, designed to operate as a coprocessor, fulfilling functions of calculation and execution of an operating system, with a large range of computer systems, comprises a sequencer 11, a processor 13 and a memory 15. The sequencer comprises a counter/register which contains the start address of the program for reading the following instruction during use which permits the computer to be easily adapted so that it can function with several instruction sets (for example, assembler, BASIC, etc.) and pass dynamically from one instruction set to another. Moreover, the conditions of attached/non-attached format, of page requirements and of writing required are processed directly by the hardware which speeds up execution of macro instructions and the memory comprises a register containing the macro instruction being executed, which can directly address a read-only memory, containing constants, during execution of a microprogram. <IMAGE>
