PURPOSE:To prevent nozzle tip ink from clogging due to a drying and solidification of an ink thereat, by a simple mechanism with troubles, scarcely occurring, by a method wherein, a shutter plate is provided slidably in contact with the end face of a nozzle mount, while the nozzle part is made openable against the ambient atmosphere by reciprocatingly moving said shutter plate. CONSTITUTION:When a shutter plate 30 is manually closed if the printer is left at quiescent state for a long period of time, the evaporation of an ink is prevented because the nozzle face of a nozzle part 26 is not exposed to the ambient air. During this period, a movable sensor plate 36 of ink is prevented, wherein at this stage, a movable sensor plate 36 intercepts a is in the state of shielding a start sensor 41 by means of a fore arm 33, a shaft 35, and a rear arm 34, with one lever-end of the rear arm facing against a stopper 60. When the operation of the printer is started thereafter, a carriage 20 moves back once to its home position (HP), subsequently the shutter plate 30 is detected as being closed, and the printer then moves rightward, with a rear arm plate 34 abutted against the stopper near a right side plate 50, whereby the movable plate 30 is lifted, making the shutter plate 30 in opened state simultaneously. |
