The invention relates to milling tools with round indexable inserts and precutting elements for the machining of materials which are difficult to cut. The object of the invention is to improve the design and arrangement of round indexable inserts in milling tools, in order to achieve an advantageous division of the cutting depth and to dissipate more heat than hitherto together with the chips. This object is achieved, according to the invention, in that a circular indexable insert (1) is followed by an indexable insert (3) having precutters (4) in the form of a segment of a circle, the cutting edge (5) of the indexable insert (3) having precutters (4) in the form of a segment of a circle consisting of main cutting edges (6) in the form of an arc of a circle and of precutting edges (7) in the form of an arc of a circle and arranged between the edges (6), and in that the diameter (D2) of the main cutting edges (6) in the form of an arc of a circle is equal to the diameter (D1) of the cutting edge (2) of the circular indexable insert (1). <IMAGE> |
