PURPOSE:To obtain an electric discharge machine where the electrode can be replaced automatically even when working a thin hole by providing an electrode guide holder on the electrode itself. CONSTITUTION:An electrode holder 6 is lowered to contact a permanent magnet 9 against a work 8 then pulse voltage is applied to lower C-axis head 2. Consequently, a collect holder 3 will slide against a ball bearing 6a while an electrode 4 will slide in an electrode guide 7 and the permanent magnet 9 and lower. Upon approach of the leading edge of electrode 4 to the work 8, spark discharge will occur between the electrode guide 7 and the work 8. While upon rising of C-axis head 2, the projection 3a of holder 3 will contact against the lower wall of ball bearing 6a of holder 6 to separate the permanent magnet 9 from the work 8. Then the holder 3 is separated from C-axis head 2 through automatic electrode replacing system to mount next electrode on C-axis head 2. |
