PURPOSE:To perform an initial microprogram loading action at a high speed by carrying out the data transfers in parallel to each other from a floppy disk to a segment buffer and from the segment buffer to a main memory respectively. CONSTITUTION:A microprogram is loaded to a main memory 2 from a file memory 5 via a service processor 4. In this case, two transfer buffers are set at the processor 4. Then data are transferred alternately to those two buffers from the memory 5. While data are transferred alternately again to the memory 2 from the transfer buffer to which no data is transferred from the memory 5. These two transfer actions are carried out in parallel to each other. A segment switch serving as a switch memory is used to perform switching between both transfer buffers.
