In the case of a connector for insulated electrical leads, which has a contact element in an insulating housing, which contact element holds the electrical conductor such that it can be plugged in and which contact element can be firmly connected to the conductor track of printed-circuit boards by means of a connecting pin projecting beyond the contact element downwards, and has spring elements which make contact with the electrical conductor by projecting obliquely into a central opening, it is provided for reliable retention of the leads and for the purpose of keeping the contact-making points free of disturbing mechanical influences that the insulating housing (3) overhang the contact elements (6) at the end (3') on the insertion side and have sprung expanding bodies (11) in the insertion direction which project into the plug-through opening (5') obliquely with respect to the centre longitudinal axis and are supported such that they press onto and/or into the insulation (10'') of the electrical lead (10). <IMAGE>
